Parks in South Orange, New Jersey

  • Baird Community Center: This community center has indoor and outdoor space. The indoor facilities include: a theatre, the Pierro Gallery, the senior social services unit, and the Baird Center Preschool. The outdoor facilities, located adjacent to the Baird Center, include: eight lighted tennis courts, a basketball court (lighted for night play), and two lighted platform tennis courts; 5 Mead Street. 
  • Cameron Field: This park offers a field sports area, regulation baseball diamond/softball (lighted for night play), a playground, community swimming pool, and seven lighted tennis courts; 5 Mead Street.
  • Carter Park: This neighborhood playground area located on College Place, just off Irvington Avenue.
  • Chyzowych Park: This park at West Parker Avenue and Maplewood has a soccer field.
  • Duck Pond Area: This outdoor space offers bocce courts, ice skating, and a walking track; North Ridgewood Road and Mead Street.
  • Farrell Field: This park features a playground, little league baseball diamond/softball, and two tennis courts; on Walton Avenue.
  • Firehouse Playground Area: This neighborhood playground space is on Newstead.
  • Floods Hill:  This park is home to the popular Free Concerts in the Park summer concerts. It has a winter sports area and a soccer area; 70 North Ridgewood Road.
  • Grove Park: This park offers a playground area, walking paths, jogging paths, and a recreation area; South Orange Avenue and Grove Road.
  • Meadowland Park: Meadowland features a baseball diamond/softball, and space for soccer; located adjacent to Baird Community Center; 5 Mead Street.
  • Memorial Park: This park offers a playground and a passive recreation area; Valley Street.
  • South Orange Community Pool: This is one of the few tax supported pools in the state, open free of charge to all Village residents who have valid I.D. Badges. The complex consists of an Olympic size pool with attached diving tank, an intermediate pool (30 ft x 50 ft), and a wading pool (30 ft x 30 ft), a snack bar, and an outdoor picnic area; 5 Mead Street.
  • Spiotta Park: This park provides a sitting area in the middle of the busy South Orange Village.
  • Third Street Playground: This is a playground right on Third Street off Walton Avenue.
  • Waterlands Park: This park, which serves as practice fields for various youth sports is located on 3rd Street.
